Rockstar is cutting costs and rewarding job creators. But it's not an economic recovery plan, it's the Dec. 20-22 Social Club Event Weekend for Grand Theft Auto Online.
All entry fees for Deathmatch and Race missions will be waived over the weekend, meaning players can try out pre-made jobs as well as player creations without spending in-game currency. Rockstar is also temporarily reducing prices for the Adder sports car, Dinka Double-T sport bike, and Buzzard helicopter by 25 percent.
Player-created missions tagged with #CreatorWeekend by the end of the weekend are eligible to win $1,000,000 in in-game currency for their designers, along with exclusive vanity planets. Would-be makers can tune in to a Rockstar livestream at 5 p.m. EST on Friday for tips from the developers themselves.
Finally, extra Crate Drops filled with RP bonuses and weaponry will fall from the skies through Sunday.
Returning players will find a new mode called Capture, a multiplayer scenario with 5 sub-modes, as well as several stability fixes. Fans of GTA Online's single player counterpart, Grand Theft Auto V, can look forward to "substantial" single-player story expansions in 2014.
