To the Moon holiday 'mini-sode' now available for free

Developer Kan Gao apologizes for delays to A Bird Story

To the Moon developer Kan "Reives" Gao has published a free holiday "mini-sode" starring the game's memory-travelling doctors.

Gao wrote on Freebird Games' blog that the episode should take about 15 to 20 minutes to play through. Players of To the Moon can expect to learn more about Dr. Watts' and Dr. Rosalene's work at the Sigmund Corporation through their holiday interactions.

It's available as a free download via the blog or as an automatic update on Steam in the form of a separate executable within the game's folder.

Gao also addressed A Bird Story, which was revealed in March but remains undated. Intended as a short prequel to the next episode of the doctors' deathbed visits, the game stars a boy who will grow up to be the focus of the unnamed episode.

"I know it's been repeatedly delayed, and I apologize for that," Gao wrote. "To be honest, I don't really know when exactly it'll be finished... It's not that long of a game at all, but there are things in it that I'm just still trying to figure out. It's also something that means a lot to me personally, and I don't want to compromise how it turns out."

To the Moon released on PC in November 2011. Laura Shigihara, who contributed to its soundtrack, plans to release her own RPG in 2014.
