Metal Gear Solid V The Phantom Pain 'hundreds of times larger than Ground Zeroes'

Prologue to MGS V set for release in March

Hideo Kojima has said that Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain will be hundreds of times larger than Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes.

A prologue to The Phantom Pain, Ground Zeroes will act as a bridge between the linearity of existing series entries and the open-world environments of the upcoming fifth instalment.

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima said on Twitter (translated by Siliconera): "GZ is both a prologue to the MGSV story and, at the same time, a tutorial for a new MGS, which transitions to sneaking simulator.

"With that said, GZ has a relatively small field as compared to the main game (which is hundreds of times larger) without time zones changing in real-time. However, each mission offers different time zones with different playstyles."

Publisher Konami has confirmed a Metal Gear Solid V Ground Zeroes release date of March 18.

The Xbox One and Xbox 360 versions of the game will feature an exclusive mission called Jamais Vu, in which cyborg ninja Raiden is tasked with exterminating 'bioroid Snatchers' concealing themselves within a prison facility.

The PS4 and PS3 versions of the game will offer exclusive content in the form of the Déjà vu mission, which features classic Solid Snake from the PSone entry in the stealth series.

Boxed PS3 and Xbox 360 versions of Ground Zeroes will cost £29.99/€29.99, while digital versions will be priced at £19.99/€19.99. PS4 and Xbox One digital versions will cost £29.99/€29.99.
