MercurySteam's new game headed to Xbox One, PS4 and PC

Title will be "completely different" to Castlevania, not coming to Wii U

The next game from MercurySteam will be released on Xbox One, PS4 and PC, but not on Wii U.

That's according to Dave Cox, head of UK studio at Konami and producer of MercurySteam's Castlevania Lords of Shadow series.

Cox also told GameSpot that the studio's next project will be "completely different" to its last three Castlevania games.

In July 2013, Cox said MercurySteam would be moving on from the series after Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2.

"We've told Japan headquarters that this is the last one for us," he said. "There's nothing worse than when somebody's got something to say, and when they've said it, they just keep talking.

"We've got a beginning and end, and it's a cool ending and a cool story. Once we've done that, it's time to say to somebody else 'now it's your turn.'"

Despite considering the possibility last year, Cox also told GameSpot that MercurySteam has no plans to port Lords of Shadow 2 to next-gen consoles as it would require a significant amount of work updating the game engine.

Konami has confirmed a Castlevania: Lords of Shadow 2 release date of February 28 in the UK.
