Homeland actor Rupert Friend has reportedly been chosen to replace the late Paul Walker as Agent 47 in the upcoming Hitman movie.
Friend, who plays Peter Quinn in Homeland, will assume the role last portrayed on the big screen by Timothy Olyphant in 2007's Hitman movie.
While plot details are thin on the ground, Variety says the upcoming film will be a sequel to the last Hitman movie.
It will be directed by Aleksander Bach, and be written by Michael Finch and Skip Woods. Woods also wrote the screenplay for the 2007 Hitman film, which generated $92 million worldwide, having only cost around $25 million to make.
In a statement which didn't deny that a Hitman title has been dropped, the company said: "Io Interactive is developing a new, AAA Hitman game that will be coming to PC and next-gen consoles and Square Enix Montreal is fully focused on mobile development of games some of which are related to the Hitman franchise. We look forward to sharing more details about these titles later this year."
