Alienware Steam Machine launching September

Compact SteamOS device given late 2014 release window

AlienWare will release its compact Steam Machine in September.

So reports several attendees of Valve's Steam Dev Days event on Wednesday, where the firm showed the device briefly to the audience of Steam developers.

AlienWare's Steam Machine was first revealed at a Steam Machine event hosted during the CES expo in Las Vegas earlier this month.

The compact device was one of the smallest of the 13 machines revealed at the event, and the only one not given official specs or pricing.

An AlienWare rep told CVG at the event that the device will compete with PS4 and Xbox One in raw performance, while it is expected to be powered by an Nvidia graphics card aside an Intel CPU.

The unit will also contain a custom Alienware motherboard, and ship with a Steam Controller.
