Square Enix released a new trailer for Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII on Thursday detailing the game's new take on the Active Time Battle system.
The trailer, called "Evolution of Battle," goes into detail on the fusion of customizable abilities and real-time reactions which define Lightning Returns' combat. It also offers a brief in-game look at Lightning's climactic clash with former ally Snow Villiers.
A Lightning Returns demo went live on PlayStation 3 and Xbox 360 on Tuesday. Players can explore the game's Yusnaan province, try out the combat, and unlock an exclusive Siegfried outfit by sharing their scores on social network service Outerworld.
Lightning Returns was revealed at 2012's Final Fantasy 25th anniversary event. It released in Japan in late 2013, beating Super Mario 3D World to No.1 on the software chart.
The Lightning Returns: Final Fantasy XIII release date has been confirmed as February 11, 2014 in North America and February 14 in Europe.
