Middle-earth: Shadow of Mordor's nemesis system, which creates unique, persistent enemies based on individual player actions, is examined in a video walkthrough published Thursday.
The walkthrough follows Wraith-haunted ranger Talion as he infiltrates a goblin encampment. After slicing through a handful of guards, Talion captures his cowardly nemesis, Ratbag. From there, he can command Ratbag to carry out one of four missions--including assassinating another nemesis, Ratbag's boss.
CVG's new Shadow of Mordor preview has more details on the game's open-world exploration, its combat, and how players will shape their beastly rivals.
The Warner Bros. Interactive and Monolith project was first announced in November 2013. Its story takes place in the period between The Hobbit and The Fellowship of the Ring.
"Players will explore the dark and very personal theme of vengeance in a world where decisions have a consequence, and those consequences persist even after death," said Warner Bros' senior VP for production and development, Samantha Ryan in the game's debut.
Shadow of Mordor is planned for release on PC, PS3, PS4, Xbox 360, and Xbox One at an unannounced time.
