Killer Instinct's free character has been switched again, this time to series mainstay Thunder.
The Xbox One reboot launched alongside the system as a free-to-play title. Gamers had access to one character, Jago, for free, and had to pay extra to unlock access to the other characters.
At the start of January, the free character switched to Sabrewulf, in an attempt to keep things fresh for free-to-play gamers. Now the free character has changed to again Thunder, meaning Sebrewulf is no longer selectable in the free version.
Formerly known as Chief Thunder in the previous Killer Instinct games, the towering Native American is armed with two tomahawks.
Players who wish to unlock other characters have two options. The Combo Breaker pack includes the first eight characters for $19.99 / £16.99 / €19.99.
Alternatively, the Ultra Edition ($39.99 / £34.99 / €39.99) includes the same eight characters from the Combo Breaker one, plus character accessory packs, costumes and the original Killer Instinct arcade game.
In CVG's Killer Instinct review, we said: "Killer Instinct's revival is a surprise success. Long-time fighting game players should feel confident about picking up the complete package on the Xbox Live Marketplace, and can look forward to having a accomplished game that's easy to play, but has a high skill-ceiling to strive towards."
