Mutant Mudds developer Renegade Kid will release a 3DS remake of its 2009 DS first-person-shooter, Moon.
Newly titled 'Moon Chronicles', the 3DS update has been refashioned for release in multiple episodes, each one containing a pack of the original game's separate chapters.
'Season 1' will account for the full DS game, released in four episodes released throughout the year (no specific release dates were offered). Season 2, which will feature "all-new story content", will be released in 2015, said the developer.
Chronicles promises "enhanced graphics and intuitive touch screen controls" running at 60 frames-per-second with 3D on. It will also be compatible with the Circle Pad Pro.
The game follows the story of Major Kane who embarks on a mission to the Earth's moon to investigate "a unique hatch of unknown origin".
The 3DS announcement comes hot on the heels of Renegade Kid having assumed full publishing rights for Moon, following the recent expiration of a five-year deal with Mastiff, the original game's publisher.
The DS original received mixed reviews, with the Official Nintendo Magazine review saying that it "feels half-finished, with a gaping hole where there should be twists, turns and innovation".
