Sony Online Entertainment has confirmed plans to shut down four of its MMO titles in the coming months.
Clone Wars Adventures and Free Realms will be the first to go, with their servers due to go offline on March 31. These will be followed by Wizardry Online and Vanguard: Saga of Heroes, which will shut down on July 31.
In the Free Realms announcement, the firm said, "In a nutshell, the game has reached a stage in its life cycle where players are growing up and moving on to other games."
It added, "We will share details on the upcoming activities and sunset soon, but we wanted to give you plenty of notice so you can truly enjoy your remaining time left in the game."
For Vanguard, the firm said, "Player population numbers have decreased making it difficult to justify the resources needed to support and update this game." Similar messaging went out in separate announcements for all four games.
Wizardry Online and Vanguard members will have their accounts upgraded to SOE's new All Access membership. "Under this new All Access plan, you will be able to continue to enjoy membership benefits in [these games] until [they sunset], in addition to having top tier access in SOE's other membership games," explained the firm.
SOE boss John Smedley will host an 'Ask me Anything' via Reddit from 3pm Pacific, he announced via Twitter.
