Developer Polyphony has released a free update for Gran Turismo 6 introducing new cars and challenges to the game.
Update 1.04, available to download for free now, adds the second half of the Red Bull X Challenge to the game's Career Mode, in which four-time F1 World Champion Sebastian Vettel offers tuition on how to drive a Formula car. Here's a related trailer:
The update also introduces two new concept cars (pictured below). Available for a limited time by participating in a new Seasonal Event or via the game's Dealership, the Corvette Stingray Gran Turismo Concept was displayed at the 2013 SEMA show as a part of a collaboration between Corvette and the Gran Turismo developer.
Meanwhile the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo Racing Series is an alternative version of the Mercedes-Benz AMG Vision Gran Turismo released in December 2013. It too is temporarily available via a new Seasonal Event.
In addition, the update brings a number of smaller gameplay and menu tweaks. "A Remove Ghost Replay button has been added to the Arcade Mode Time Trial and Free Run Quick Menu," explains Polyphony, letting you remove ghost data "that includes unintentional shortcuts".
Birthday Login bonuses will be supplemented with "an in-game car from a year near your year of birth [being] sent as a gift when you log in to PSN".
And finally Seasonal Events will now show which prizes they offer, "displayed on the right side of the Seasonal Events entry screen".
Polyphony added the recently revealed Toyota FT-1 Concept coupe to the game via a free update earlier in January.
Also, a documentary on Gran Turismo and its creator Kazunori Yamauchi, titled 'KAZ: Pushing The Virtual Divide', has been released via Hulu, the Sony Movie Channel, Sony Entertainment Network, Amazon Instant Video and Crackle.
