A new update to the Kinect Sports Rivals Preseason app will introduce an international tournament taking place throughout February.
Preseason International Champions begins on Saturday, February 1, allowing players to set their fastest race time on the in-game leaderboard, in an attempt to be the fastest racer in both their country and the world.
The player with the fastest time in the world when the competition ends on February 28 will receive an exclusive golden wake racer which can be used in the full version of Kinect Sports Rivals when it's released in Spring.
Meanwhile, the players with the fastest times in their respective countries will earn a still-exclusive-but-not-quite-as-much silver wake racer.
Finally, every participant from the winning player's home country will also receive a special wake racer livery with the country's flag on it - so it's worth at least having a go even if you aren't very good.
As well as the tournament, there also will be a series of daily challenges that will enable players to unlock in-game items that are only available throughout February and not possible to unlock in the final game.
Released on November 22, Kinect Sports Rivals Preseason is a free enhanced demo that allows players to try out the wake racing event from the delayed Kinect Sports Rivals. According to Microsoft, it has been downloaded over 1 million times.
No official Kinect Sports Rivals release date has been announced, with Microsoft still dating the game for 'Spring 2014'.
