Basement Crawl for PS4 delayed due to 'several exciting opportunities'

Sony exclusive still on track for Q1 2014 release

PS4 exclusive Basement Crawl has been delayed due to 'exciting' partnership opportunities that have arisen for developers Bloober Team, the studio has announced.

Originally scheduled to release by the end of January, the Bomberman-esque multiplayer title has been delayed, and will release on an unspecified date during Q1 2014.

According to a Bloober Team spokesperson, the delay is due to recent developments which may see the studio partner with 'major industry players'.

"While the completed version of Basement Crawl was prepped for launch during the last week, several exciting opportunities to partner with major industry players to enhance, refine and add-to the game arose," Bloober Team CEO Piotr Babieno said.

"Although a difficult decision, we decided that the best choice for us, as a team, was to delay Basement Crawl so that we could take full advantage of these opportunities.

"We will be able leverage those new partnerships to further grow and improve the game while still providing an amazingly fun multiplayer experience for PS4 owners. We'll be able to announce more details in the days and weeks to come."

A homage to the Bomberman series, Basement Crawl is a multiplayer focused title set to support four local players and eight online, with nine maps and four classes.

The studio describes the art style as "engagingly unnerving".
