Yes, this The Evil Within trailer feels like it is paying homage to the iconic Resident Evil series. That's most likely because the game's director, Shinji Mikami, is the brains behind the seminal '90s horror title Resident Evil.

The Evil Within is the debut project from Tango Gameworks, which was founded in 2010 by Resident Evil creator Shinji Mikami and later acquired by Bethesda owner ZeniMax Media. The game follows Detective Castellanos as he investigates a gruesome mass murder, is knocked unconscious and awakens in a world filled with monsters.
