Deep Down: New character renders and gameplay details

Capcom explains use of spears, one-handed and two-handed swords

Sony Japan has released new screenshots for Capcom's PS4 online fantasy RPG Deep Down, along with some details on weapons included in the game.

DualShockers reports that in-game spears, which can be seen in the screenshots wielded by the blue knight, can be used to target specific parts of the body.

The challenge of combat is centred on accuracy; Spear attacks can, for example, nullify opponent attacks by striking the arm, or restricting movement by attacking the knee.

One-handed swords, used by the silver knight in the images, can be used alongside shields, thus giving players a balance of attack and defence. Swords also provide the player an advantage through their speed, and thus is considered the best starting weapon for newcomers.

Finally, the two handed sword, also wielded by the blue knight in the screens, provide heavy and powerful attacks. However, their main disadvantage is the time involved in committing attacks.

Deep Down is a PS4 exclusive being developed by Capcom Online Games in collaboration with SCE Japan Studio. The online RPG will be free to play and support four player co-op.

Deep Down has only officially been confirmed for release in Japan, with the prospects of a western release unknown. Capcom filed a Deep Down patent application with the United States Patent and Trademark Office on July 23, 2013, which was revealed in December.
