Take-Two has said Borderlands 2 is the best-selling game on the 2K Games roster, selling 8.5 million units since its release in November 2012. The figure includes sales of the game across PC, PS3 and Xbox 360, including both the original game and the 2013 Game of the Year edition. Altogether the numbers place it ahead of the BioShock and NBA 2k series.

Take-Two reported $578 million in profits for the quarter ending December 2013, mostly due to the success of Grand Theft Auto 5. The company has shipped 35 million units to date.

Borderlands 2 has also been confirmed to be headed to PS Vita, though no further announcements have been made since Gamescom 2013. It was offered free to PlayStation Plus subscribers in December.
