Kojima addresses MGS: Ground Zeroes game length

"I believe people will be satisfied" with length, says creator

Metal Gear Solid creator Hideo Kojima has addressed fan concern over the reported short length of the game's new installment, Ground Zeroes.

A prelude to Metal Gear Solid V: The Phantom Pain, Konami and Kojima Productions have been met with fan backlash after a report claimed Ground Zeroes can be completed in just two hours.

Taking to Twitter, Kojima moved to defend the length of the game.

"MGSV Ground Zeroes includes the main mission alongside 5 Side Ops," he wrote.

"All missions include elements such as 'Trial Records,' where players can compete against each other online. This is not a linear game like the past.

"GZ offers freedom of approach and play style, which we hope palyers will enjoy over and over without [becoming bored]. I believe people will be satisfied with the 'play time' of GZ and will not stress the 'clear time,' which is a standard for linear games."

A wealth of new information on Ground Zeroes was revealed yesterday, including core gameplay mechanics and how Snake's inventory management has changed.

A recently released 12-minute gameplay video of Metal Gear Solid 5: Ground Zeroes showed the game running on PS4.

Metal Gear Solid V: Ground Zeroes will release March 18 for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One.
