Team Ninja confirms it is developing a PS4 game

Unnamed title may be the next entry in Ninja Gaiden series

Ninja Gaiden and Dead or Alive developer Team Ninja has confirmed it has started development on a PlayStation 4 title.

Speaking to Dengeki Online, translated by Gematsu, studio lead Yosuke Hayashi said the project is one of two internally developed projects, the other being Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z.

"First, we will release Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z for PS3 and Xbox 360, which we joint developed with the Inafune-led company Comcept," Hayashi said. "Please look forward to this ridiculous 'zombie x ninja' game.

"Additionally, we're also developing a PlayStation 4 title internally, so please look forward to future updates."

Although Hayashi didn't confirm what the title was, in December 2013 he indicated the studio was "thinking of the next Ninja Gaiden" in the main series.

Yaiba: Ninja Gaiden Z is an upcoming hack-and-slash title developed by US studio Spark Unlimited and Keiji Inafune's Comcept. It stars resurrected evil ninja Yaiba Kamikaze, who seeks revenge against Ninja Gaiden's leading man Ryu Hayabusa, who was responsible for killing Kamikaze in the first place.
