God of War 2 director Cory Barlog's next project at Sony Santa Monica is "not even close to 75 per cent completion", according to a Twitter post from fellow studio staff member Shane Liesegang.
Posting on Twitter, Liesegang said he was having too many side project ideas, and "just as one thing approaches 75% completion I want to start another thing".
A follower replied to by saying he "hopes you are not feeling down on whatever you and Cory Barlog are working on", to which Liesegang responded by revealing that game was "not even close to 75 per cent completion".
Barlog left Sony in 2007 after completing work on God of War 2 and writing early concepts for God of War 3 on PS3 and God of War: Ghost of Sparta on PSP.
He rejoined Sony Santa Monica in August 2013, six years after leaving the studio. The God of War 2 director confirmed he is working on a mystery new project at the studio, for which he is "putting together a team", but did not reveal any further details on the game.
"What am I working on, you ask? Good question," he said at the time.
"Sadly, I cannot tell you...yet. But I can say that it is freaking huge, and it will live up to the standards that I helped establish here at Santa Monica Studios."
