The new slim PlayStation Vita will arrive in North America "this spring" with a $199 Borderlands 2 bundle, PlayStation hardware marketing head John Koller announced Monday.
The new model, which is slightly slimmer but features an LCD screen as opposed to the previous version's OLED screen, already released in Japan and hit the UK last week.
It was previously confirmed that the slim version will replace the OLED version in the UK, and presumably the same situation will apply.
The slim PS Vita has been available in Japan since October and features a smaller form factor. It also has a built-in 1GB memory card and its battery life offers additional one hour of gaming time, raising the total to six hours of gameplay.
However, the most important significant change is the high definition five inch LCD display, which replaces the original Vita's OLED screen.
A number of comparison videos published on YouTube when the slimline Vita was released in Japan appeared to show that the OLED screen produced a slightly better picture than the LCD one.
A redacted Tweet from 2K Games listed Borderlands 2's Vita release date as March 18.
