Multiplayer arena combat game TowerFall Ascension will be release on PS4 in US on March 11, indie developer Matt Thorson has confirmed, adding that an EU release "shouldn't be far behind".
TowerFall Ascension is described as a "4-player archery combat platformer ... inspired by classics from the glory days of local multiplayer".
Having previously debuted on the Ouya console simply as 'TowerFall' and receiving acclaim for being the micro console's killer app, the expanded TowerFall Ascension will pack new features including 50 new Versus arenas (for a total of 120 levels), new customizable match variants, new power ups and a new one or two-player co-op Quest mode.
According to Thorson, Quest mode is "an arena mode where monsters spawn from portals as you defend yourself using the same skills you've honed in Versus mode". Ascension is also expected to release for PC in Q1 2014.
