Octodad: Dadliest Catch on PS4 delayed to April

Developer "thinking about" an Xbox One version

Octodad: Dadliest Catch has had its PS4 release date pushed further back.

Originally due for release in March on the console, the game will now be coming out in April, according to the game's developer Young Horses.

The studio was also asked if it was going to bring Dadliest Catch to Xbox One as well. "Our word on the Xbox One version is 'we're thinking about it'," it replied, adding: "We don't currently have plans for Wii U."

Octodad: Dadliest Catch is a slapstick physics game which stars an octopus posing as a human husband and father.

The indie title has figured prominently into Sony's marketing for the new system, appearing on-stage at PS4 events and in playable retail kiosks. It even produced full-body Octodad costumes for the PS4 launch event.

In CVG's review of the PC version, Rob Crossley said: "Octodad is the result of a small group of young developers trying to accomplish a task that was far beyond their resources.

"It was cursed from the start, made worse through bad ideas, but still not a true representation of the talent and ambition of its creators. It is a poor game, but an honest attempt nonetheless, and hopefully the only time Young Horses attempts comedy but ends up with tragedy."
