Nintendo of America offers free Pokemon X & Y to new 3DS owners

Register a 3DS and a game in March to receive a free copy of Pokemon

Nintendo of America has announced a promotion offering 3DS owners a free copy of Pokemon X & Y if they register a new system and one of six qualifying games.

In order to qualify for the offer, customers have to register a new 3DS, 3DS XL or 2DS system on the US Club Nintendo site between March 1 and March 31, as well as at least one of the following six games:

  • Mario Kart 7
  • Super Mario 3D Land
  • Animal Crossing: New Leaf
  • Lego City Undercover: The Chase Begins
  • Yoshi's New Island
  • Donkey Kong Country Returns 3D

As long as the customer has also linked their system's eShop account to their Club Nintendo account, they will be given an option to select a free copy of Pokemon X or Pokemon Y, in their Club Nintendo 'to-do list'. Players will then instantly receive their code both on-screen and in an email.

The free copy of the game does not have to be activated on the same 3DS, so players who already have a copy will be able to give their code to a friend.

The latest entry in the Pokemon series sold more than four million copies worldwide in a single weekend, according to Nintendo.
