Batman: Arkham Origins will receive a new downloadable story expansion starring Mr. Freeze in April, Warner Bros. Interactive has confirmed.
Titled 'Cold, Cold Heart', the DLC expansion will bring a new open-word quest to the game with a 'focus' on Mr. Freeze, as previously teased. The DLC will be out on April 22, as confirmed by a short cinematic teaser trailer shown within the below episode of DC All Access.
"Mr. Freeze is the focus of Cold, Cold Heart, which is our big open-world narrative-based DLC that we'll be releasing for Arkham Origins," confirmed WB Games' VP of Production Ames Kirshen. "We're super excited to give fans the origins of this great Batman character."
Batman will gain new kit during the added story, including a new XE suit designed for extreme conditions - in response to the super-cold weapons of Mr. Freeze and his goons.
Although details are otherwise slim, Kirshen promises something more substantial than the previously-released Initiation DLC.
"It's like a mini chapter in the game. If you guys played and saw Initiation, it was more like a challenge map that had a little narrative wrapped around it. This is actually in-game mission story content with a brand new story wrapped around Mr. Freeze in the Arkham Origins setting," he said.
Warner Bros. Games recently confirmed that Batman: Arkham Origins Blackgate will be released on PC, PlayStation 3, Xbox 360 and Wii U. The game, a tie-in title alongside Batman: Arkham Origins, was developed by Armature Studio originally for the Vita and 3DS.
