Ronimo Games has announced that a new version of its multiplayer battle arena title Awesomenauts will be released on PS4 on March 4 in North America and March 5 in Europe.
Awesomenauts is a shooter played from a side-on perspective which sees six players face off in sprawling 2D arenas with nods to '80s cartoon culture.
The PS4 version, titled Awesomenauts Assemble, is being developed in collaboration with Abstraction Games. It will include "all features" included in the PC version plus "tons of fixes to both code and gameplay", an extra map and more than twice the number of characters.
Dutch studio Abstraction Games has developed ports of popular mobile titles including Rocketbirds: Hardboiled Chicken, Cut the Rope and Knytt Underground.
"Releasing Awesomenauts Assemble on PlayStation 4 feels like we're bringing the Awesomenauts home," said Ronimo co-founder Fabian Akker. "We originally created Awesomenauts as a console experience."
The 2D MOBA game debuted on Xbox Live Marketplace for Xbox 360 and the PS Store for PS3 in May 2012, before getting a Steam for PC launch in August 2012. The game has sold almost a million copies "across the current-gen platforms", according to Ronimo.
Awesomenauts Assemble will cost $9.99 in North America and €9.99 in Europe.
