Beta signs up for Nosgoth, an online multiplayer game set in the Legacy of Kain universe, are now open ahead of the beginning of the testing phase this Thursday, February 27.
Psyonix, the studio behind the project, also said in a new video that it's collaborating with Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver art lead Daniel Cabuco, who will be creating classic skins for characters in the game.
Square Enix has assured fans that although Nosgoth is free-to-play, it is not going to be as consumer-hostile as some fear. George Kelion, a community manager at Square Enix London Studios, insisted in a blog post that Nosgoth was "free-to-play but not pay-to-win".
Described as a competitive, team-based human versus vampire multiplayer game, Nosgoth has gained a cult following due to its ties with the Legacy of Kain series. The game pits two factions against each other in battle, where players must use "each race's unique fighting style to conquer and crush the opposition in a war for supremacy and for survival".
In May 2012, it was rumoured that Tomb Raider studio Crystal Dynamics was working on a Legacy of Kain: Soul Reaver reboot.
