Mojang is in talks with Warner Bros. over the potential for a Minecraft movie.
Mojang boss and Minecraft creator Markus Persson broke the news in a Twitter post on Thursday, when he said, "Someone is trying leak the fact that we're working with Warner Brothers on a potential Minecraft Movie. I wanted to be the leak."
While confirming the "potential" for a movie, this only signals the very earliest of discussions and doesn't stand as confirmation that a movie will come as a result.
It's no surprise that the break-out indie hit has the attention of the movie industry; Persson recently announced that the PC version of Minecraft has racked up 100 million registered users with around 14.3 million copies sold.
That, in addition to the recently announced 10 million copies of the Xbox 360 version sold and one million copies of the PlayStation 3 version, the latter having hit the million milestone after only five weeks on sale.
Plans for Xbox One, PS4 and Vita versions of Minecraft were announced in August 2013.
