Halo news is guaranteed at E3, according to comments made by Microsoft Studios corporate vice president Phil Spencer.
Responding to a question on Twitter regarding the next Halo installment, Spencer said news related to Halo will be announced at E3 2014.
"Halo news will be coming at E3," Spencer wrote.
"343i [343 Industries] has a great plan in place, will be cool to share with everyone."
Master Chief voice actor Steve Downes indicated earlier this month that Halo 5 will not release in 2014, despite promises from Microsoft that it will.
"I think you may be ahead of yourself on Halo 5," Downes said. "I wouldn't expect anything until 2015. What you can look forward to this year is an anniversary edition of Halo 2."
If Downes' comments are accurate, Microsoft may be more likely to announce the 2014 release of Halo 2: Anniverary Edition at E3.
Despite Downes' comments, Microsoft has not yet reneged on earlier claims it will release Halo 5 in 2014.
Spencer revealed last year that Microsoft had discussed the possibility of a Halo 2 Anniversary edition.
"I'll be open," Spencer told IGN. "We have discussions about it. It's more about the right time and making sure that we really would do the right thing for the franchise."
E3 2014 takes place between June 10 and 12.
