Elite: Dangerous gets Docking & Ship Outfitting gameplay video

UK studio Frontier Developments has released a new gameplay video for its crowd-funded space trading and combat sim, Elite: Dangerous.

The video shows off Docking & Ship Outfitting, detailing the correct procedure for docking and landing on a starport in Port Zelada.

According to the developer, phase three of the testing moves "towards building out the game by adding docking, an early version of hyperspace jumps between multiple locations and ship outfitting within an iconic Coriolis space station". Phase three also offers "progression where players can use their honest profit or ill-gotten gains from their in-game actions to improve their ship".

The studio Frontier was co-founded by David Braben in 1994, some ten years after the original Elite game shipped on BBC Micro and Acorn Electron computers. The Cambridge based studio has since worked on notable projects including RollerCoaster Tycoon 3, LostWinds and Kinectimals.

It raised raised more than £1.5 million on Kickstarter to fund the initial development of Elite Dangerous. The studio later went public and joined the alternative investments market (AIM) with a value of £39 million.
