The Miiverse is undoubtedly Wii U's hidden weapon.
Whereas other systems can't quite shake off that reputation of online communities filled with people shouting abuse at each other, Miiverse has managed to consistently provide a friendly message board populated (for the most part) with cheery pictures and conversations. It's a Wii U-topia, if you will. Sorry.
The Miiverse was improved significantly last year when Nintendo added Art Academy Sketchpad, an app that allows players to create colourful works of art and post them to the online platform, as opposed to the standard black and white sketches previously possible.
To make the most of it, Nintendo ran a competition late last year asking Art Academy Sketchpad owners to submit artwork based on The Legend of Zelda: A Link Between Worlds.
Here are the brilliant winning entries - one gold winner, two silver ones, three bronze, five honourable mentions chosen by the Art Academy Sketchpad development team, five chosen by Eiji Aonuma, and a bunch of other notable submissions.
Just to clarify, these were all created using only the Wii U GamePad. Great stuff.
