Warner Bros. Interactive Entertainment has released a new set of Batman: Arkham Knight screenshots.
The screens finally provide a look at the eponymous Arkham Knight, who serves as the antagonist in Rocksteady's third and final entry in the Arkham series.
The character is unique to the game's version of the Batman universe and was created by Geoff Johns, writer of Green Lantern, Aquaman, and Justice League, in collaboration with DC's chief creative officer.
The Arkham Knight character has been pitched as a rougher, more extreme, militarised version of Batman who will "really challenge Batman to go head to head with him in lots of different ways".
Also featured in the screens is Batman meeting with Jim Gordon, plus the game's version of the Batmobile - players will be able to get behind the wheel of the vehicle for the first time in the series.
The title takes place one year after the events of Arkham City, with Batman at the very peak of his powers, when a gallery of villains descend upon Gotham and team up to bring the Dark Knight down once and for all.
Billed as the "explosive finale" to the Arkham series, Arkham Knight will be released on PS4, Xbox One and PC in 2014.
