Foxtel Play launches for PlayStation 3

On demand and live TV service also headed to PS4 'shortly'

Foxtel Play has launched for PlayStation 3 in Australia, Sony Australia has announced.

The pay TV service has long had a presence on the Xbox 360, but Sony has announced the application has launched overnight for PS3 in the lead up to Game of Thrones Season 4.

The service joins ABC iView, SBS On Demand and 7Play among the entertainment services currently available on the PS3.

Meanwhile, Sony has confirmed Foxtel Play will be available on the PS4 shortly, along with other entertainment applications.

While entertainment services are currently lacking on PS4 in Australia, an ABC spokesperson said in March that an iView application will launch when the company has the resources to create it.

"While we strive to be cross platform as possible, that doesn't mean we have the resources to target every new platform from launch," she told TechRadar.

"We are looking at Xbox One and PS4 support in the future, but don't have anything to announce at this time."

PS4 currently boasts Quickflix, VidZone and Video Unlimited.
