Hearthstone releases on iPad in select regions

Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are first to play on iOS

Hearthstone: Heroes of Warcraft is now available on iPad in select regions of the world.

Blizzard announced Wednesday that it began a limited roll-out of the digital card game. iPad owners in Canada, Australia, and New Zealand are the first to get their hands on the touch-enabled version of the game.

The free-to-play game has amassed more than 10 million registered accounts despite only officially launching in March. It entered open beta in North America and Europe in January.

Blizzard revealed in November that it plans to launch Hearthstone on Android devices as well as iOS, though it has not yet provided a timeframe.

Hearthstone lets players battle the computer or each other to earn new cards, customizing decks based on champions representing each of World of Warcraft's original nine character classes.

Players can spend real cash or earn in-game gold to compete in draft-tournament styled Arenas and buy booster packs.

Heroes of the Storm, another free-to-play game from Blizzard, entered "technical alpha" in March.
