Ridley Scott will executive produce a Halo 'digital feature project' in collaboration with 343 Industries and Xbox Entertainment Studios, according to a report.
Due to release later this year, the project is produced by Scott and the president of Scott Free TV, David Zucker. Battlestar Galactica director Sergio Mimica-Gezzan will direct, according to sources speaking to The Wrap.
This project, which will apparently follow the format of the Forward Unto Dawn series, is unrelated to the Steven Spielberg project announced at E3 2013 and will not feature Master Chief as the lead protagonist.
The Spielberg-produced series will be directed by Neil Blomkamp (District 9), who has previously worked on a series of promotional live-action shorts for the Halo series, and was poised to direct a film adaptation at one stage.
When the Speilberg project was announced the legendary director said he was "incredibly excited" to be involved in a project where "technology and myth-making meet".
