The second part of Ubisoft's Child of Light making-of documentary series dives into the game's music and sound.
Ubisoft says Child of Light is inspired by "fairy tales and epic poems" and styled after Japanese role-playing games, with turn-based battles and a skill tree closely resembling that seen in Far Cry 3.
Ubisoft contracted singer-songwriter Coeur de Pirate to compose the game's soundtrack. It even consulted with Cirque du Soleil on how to best convey its fantastical worlds and characters.
"It's a breath of fresh air in a world where most video games are based on muscular demonstrations of graphics and power," Cirque du Soleil creative consultant Bastien Alexandre says in the video.
A previous developer diary spotlighted Child of Light's art and battle system.
Child of Light will release on April 30 via digital download channels on Xbox 360, Xbox One, PS3, PS4, Wii U and PC for £11.99/$14.99. The deluxe retail edition featuring a poster designed by Yoshitaka Amano will be exclusive to PS3, PS4, and PC.
