Rock Band and Dance Central will return this generation

Both franchises are "near and dear" to Harmonix, CEO says

Rock Band and Dance Central will appear on the new generation of games consoles, developer Harmonix announced today.

Harmonix CEO Alex Rigopulos said in a PAX East keynote address that he had no plans to announce a fourth main title in either franchise at the conference, GameSpot reports. But he assured fans that they will appear eventually.

"[The Rock Band and Dance Central franchises] are near and dear to our hearts and our minds," Rigopulos said. "And we have grand plans to bring back both of them with guns blazing at some point in the coming console cycle."

Rock Band 3 released in 2010, though downloadable arcade rhythm game Rock Band Blitz hit PS3 and Xbox 360 in August 2012. Dance Central 3 released in 2012.

Harmonix stopped releasing weekly DLC song updates for Rock Band in April 2013.

The Cambridge, Mass. based studio is currently developing Kinect rhythm game Fantasia: Music Evolved, multiplayer shooter Chroma, and a recently revealed mobile game called Record Run.
