Beyond Good & Evil creator Michel Ancel briefly showed new concept art for heroine Jade in a Rayman Legends livestream from March.
Jade's new look doesn't stray too far from the design depicted in previous Beyond Good & Evil 2 teasers, though she appears to have picked up a katana and some other samurai influences since we last saw her. Ancel reveals the design just after the two minute mark in the video below.
Update: Ubisoft has told IGN that the concept art was actually from the original Beyond Good & Evil.
Ancel said that "Beyond Good & Evil 2 would be a good candidate for making a real serious game now" that his studio has finished work on the more lighthearted Rayman Legends.
The design veteran had little more to say on the topic, though series composer Christophe Heral does lead an a capella rendition of the Beyond Good & Evil theme at about 1:30 in.
Beyond Good & Evil 2 was officially announced in May 2008.
"I think now with those new consoles arriving, yes, we want to try again making that game," Ancel said in July 2013. "I would say it's surprising, as we want it to be. Not just a sequel, but something that really makes all the ideas that we had for the first one possible now with these consoles."
During the livestream, the dev team also took part in a live question and answer session, with the first question asking Ancel about the status of the project.
"Working on Rayman Legends was a nice holiday time," he joked, "but we are going to make serious games now, so Beyond Good & Evil 2 is a good candidate for being a serious game now."
The nature of his response suggests the project is now in production
