Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel smaller than BL2, Pitchford says

2K Games will consider appropriate pricing

Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel will be smaller in scope than Borderlands 2, Gearbox CEO Randy Pitchford has said.

In an interview with PC Gamer published last week, Pitchford spoke about how the 2K Australia-led project will measure up next to its predecessors.

"It's pretty big. I don't think it's going to be as big as Borderlands 2," Pitchford said. "It might be as big, or a little bigger, than Borderlands 1. It might be kind of in between the two."

While publisher 2K Games will ultimately determine how much to sell the game for, Pitchford said the game "should be priced correctly, so we'll have to see what happens in the market and understand the actual total value proposition that's being offered."

Much of the game takes place on Pandora's distinct H-shaped moon. Though Pitchford was tight-lipped about other locations, he pointed out that The Pre-Sequel will have diverse environments much like the games taking place on the planet below.

Players can choose from four new characters at the outset of the game, though Pitchford acknowledged that "it'd be awesome to do more."

We got a first-hand look at the "game which blurs the lines between generous DLC and questionable retail release" in our Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel preview.
