Slapstick physics game Octodad: Dadliest Catch will release on PS4 next week, developer Young Horses announced Friday.
The offbeat tale of an undercover cephalopod and his unsuspecting family will release on Tuesday in the US and on Wednesday in Europe. US PlayStation Plus subscribers can receive a discounted price of $11.99 through its first week, otherwise it will cost $14.99/€13.99.
The indie title has figured prominently into Sony's marketing for the new system, appearing on-stage at PS4 events and in playable retail kiosks. It even produced full-body Octodad costumes for the PS4 launch event. It was originally scheduled to release in March.
Young Horses is considering bringing Octodad to more systems: "Our word on the Xbox One version is 'we're thinking about it'," it told a fan on Twitter, adding: "We don't currently have plans for Wii U."
In our Octodad review for the PC version, we called it "a poor game, but an honest attempt nonetheless, and hopefully the only time Young Horses attempts comedy but ends up with tragedy."
