Trials Frontier tops 6 million downloads in 1 week

"Robust post-launch content plan" includes new bikes and multiplayer modes

Trials Frontier was downloaded over six million times during its first week of availability, publisher Ubisoft claimed on Tuesday.

Announced in June 2013 and released on iOS devices on April 10, the free-to-play title marks the stunt racing series' first appearance on mobiles and tablets.

Developed by series creator RedLynx, the game is currently the number one free app on the App Store in 75 countries, according to Ubisoft. An Android version is due for release later this year.

Ubisoft Mobile managing director Jean-Michel Detoc said: "Trials Frontier has the most first week downloads of any Ubisoft mobile title to date, and the thousands of players reviews we received are amazingly positive, an achievement Redlynx and Ubisoft are proud to announce.

"In order to keep players engaged, we have a robust post-launch content plan including new bikes and multiplayer modes that will allow players to continue exploring and enjoying the world of Trails Frontier."

CVG's Trials Frontier review said the game offers "classic Trials gameplay suffocated by a monetisation model, where all the pleasures of 'one more go' gameplay are turned against you."
