The release date for Adam Sandler's upcoming video game movie, Pixels, has been announced.
Pixels is scheduled to arrive in cinemas in the US on May 15, 2015 and is based on a short film released in 2010 by Patrick Jean (which you can watch below).
Although the final plot has yet to be confirmed, Pixels will be about an army of video game characters invading New York, with a team of expert gamers drafted into the city to try and defeat them.
The film will star Sandler himself as well as Peter Dinklage (Tyrion Lannister from Game Of Thrones), Kevin James (The King Of Queens), Michelle Monaghan (True Detective) and Josh Gad (Olaf in Frozen).
It will be co-written Tim Herlihy and Timothy Dowling. Herlihy is Sandler's long-time writing partner who previously wrote the screenplays for the likes of Billy Madison, Happy Gilmore and The Wedding Singer. Dowling, meanwhile, wrote the screenplays for Role Models, This Means War and Just Go With It.
Pixels will also have a big-name director at the helm in the shape of Chris Columbus, who's best known for directing Home Alone, Home Alone 2 and the first two Harry Potter movies.
