UPDATE: Disney announced during a live event on Wednesday afternoon the new Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes, due for release in 'Fall'.

The event, which was streamed live via the internet, has now concluded, but you can get CVG's full Disney Infinity 2.0: Marvel Super Heroes event report here.

Original story continues:

Disney Infinity 2.0 will include characters from Marvel Comics, as all but confirmed by a teaser video released earlier this month.

The video showed Captain America's shield bouncing across the game's cartoon landscape. It's not yet clear whether Disney Infinity 2.0 is an entirely new game or just a new range of merchandise.

The trailer's title, "Get Ready to Assemble," hints that more Avengers will likely join the game's cast. It was also seemingly prematurely announced that Clark Gregg, the actor who plays Agent Phil Coulson in the Marvel universe will be on hand to present the show.

"Today, Clark Gregg surprised fans at the Disney Infinity 2.0 launch event, announcing new Marvel additions to the game!" read a swiftly deleted Tweet posted on the official account of the Agents of SHIELD TV show.

Gregg will be joined by Disney Interactive president Jimmy Pitaro, and Marvel CEO Joe Quesada, Disney has officially confirmed.
