Gran Turismo 5 online finale event to unlock GT6 content

Last chance to compete in GT5 will expand its successor

Gran Turismo 5 will lose its online services on May 31, but a final online event will unlock new content in its successor Gran Turismo 6.

Starting May 1 and ending May 30, a series of races in Gran Turismo 5 will reward winners with up to five cars to use in Gran Turismo 6.

According to a post on the official Gran Turismo website, these cars were chosen for their usefulness in the early hours of Gran Turismo 6.

The events will take place on two tracks including Top Gear Test Track and Nurburgring 24h, while the events can be entered using two vehicles including the Mazda Roadster Touring Car '11 and the Nissan GT-R N24 Schulze Motorsports.

If users are successful, they can login to GT6 between June 2 and June 29 to unlock the five vehicles, listed below:

  • Abarth Grande Punto '09
  • Renault Sport Megane R.S. Trophy '11
  • Nissan Fairlady Z (Z34) '08
  • Tesla Motors Model S Signature Performance '12
  • Subaru S206 NBR Challenge Package '12

Sony announced in January that it planned to shut down online services for several of its first party titles, including Gran Turismo 5, the Resistance series and more.

Gran Turismo 5 DLC packs have no longer been available from April 30.
