Disney and Lucasfilm have launched the first episode in an series of 'Star Wars Journeys' apps for iOS.
Star Wars Journeys apps are interactive storybooks, each episode telling the story of a Star Wars movie with interactive stories and a playable mini game (trailer below).
The first episode, released today, tells the story of Star Wars Episode 1: The Phantom Menace, and contains a playable pod racing mini game in addition to other interactive activities.
Apps covering the stories of the other five Star Wars movies will be released incrementally between now and the release of Star Wars: Episode VII, the new movie helmed by director J.J. Abrams.
The apps will also provide a database of characters, vehicles and locations within the Star Wars universe, aimed at families and kids aged 6-12 to get up to speed on Star Wars before the arrival of the next movie, reports Variety. For now the series is an iOS exclusive.
