Xbox One May system update to add sound mixer for snapped apps

Will also feature an opt-in Kinect feedback process

Xbox One will receive a new system update this month adding a sound mixer for snapped applications, among other improvements.

Once the update is installed, useres will be able to control the sound levels of two apps simultaneously when using the console's Snap functionality. This will also allow users to control volume during Kinect chat.

Meanwhile, Microsoft will introduce an opt-in speech data collection campaign which it will use to improve the responsiveness of voice commands using Kinect. This will be turned on in the console's Privacy & Online Safety menu.

"The more voice samples we have to input into our algorithms, the better and more responsive Xbox One can be to our fans," Larry 'Major Nelson' Hyrb wrote in a post about the update.

The update will be made available this week to users in the Xbox One Early Access program. To everyone else it's expected some time in May.

The update follows a series of broader changes in April, including improvements to Friends and the console's user interface.
