Tales from the Borderlands' protagonists and unreliable narrators get a little help from a familiar vault hunter in the game's first round of screenshots.
The screens released Monday by Telltale Games show some of the upcoming episodic adventure's action and dialogue. Players work through the alternating stories of Hyperion hacker Rhys and con-artist Fiona.
Neither character is a combat-ready vault hunter, but Borderlands 2's Zer0 and other familiar characters will appear in Rhys and Fiona's respective tall tales. The series takes place after the events of Borderlands 2 and will figure into the franchise's official canon.
Telltale Games revealed on the PlayStation Blog that loot players unlock in Tales from the Borderlands "will be available to use in other areas of the Borderlands franchise", much like in Telltale's Poker Night at the Inventory 2. That may include upcoming shooter Borderlands: The Pre-Sequel.
Tales from the Borderlands will cost $4.99 per episode or for less overall as part of a Season Pass.
Players will rarely see the actual events of the game that unfold, rather "you're playing this Big Fish version of what happened", Telltale Games' Kevin Bruner revealed in March. Rhys and Fiona will occasionally even present their own very separate version of the same events.
