EA to reveal 'major' Frostbite 3 game at E3

Publisher will also debut six new titles for 2015 and beyond

Electronic Arts will announce a "major new game" planned for 2014 at E3 this year.

Company CEO Andrew Wilson teased the news during the firm's financial results call on Tuesday.

The new game will be powered by Frostbite 3, confirmed Wilson - the engine developed by DICE to power Battlefield 4.

Wilson said the game was in development at a "flagship developer", but didn't directly confirm DICE's involvement.

The game will receive a "live reveal" at E3 on June 9, and has been pinned for a release during EA's Q3 FY2015, which is calendar Q4 2014 (October-December 2014).

Electronic Arts also announced that it will reveal six titles planned for 2015 and beyond at E3.

Though it gave no further details, likely candidates include Mass Effect 4 and the Star Wars projects from DICE and Visceral.

Later in its investor call, the publisher confirmed that its Star Wars: Battlefront title - in development at DICE - will make an appearance at E3 2014.

The publisher also confirmed it will release no Need for Speed title in 2014 and announced an extension of its partnership with Titanfall developer Respawn.

In its latest financial results, posted Tuesday, the publishing giant reported profits of $367 million for the months between January and March, up from $323 million recorded during the same period last year.

This helped edge the firm just outside of the red for the full year, posting a tiny net profit of just $8 million for the 12-month period. This is down from the $98 million in profit it reported the prior year.

"It was a transformative year for EA in a dynamic year for our industry, and I'm even more excited for the new experiences we will deliver in fiscal year 2015 and beyond," commented Wilson.
