PlanetSide 2 players may now furnish their characters with a variety of implants, giving specific stat-boosting properties based on random acquisition.
Players can acquire implants through "drops" which occur as a result of scoring kills, destroying vehicles, or other actions which further their team's goals. They can also be purchased from the Station Cash store, or combined together into higher-tier implants.
All players start with a baseline "Enhanced Targeting" implant. Though the items themselves are permanent, using them will deplete a replaceable power source. Tuesday's update also tweaks the Medic class, Howling Pass region, and several other features.
SOE's All-Access Pass system, which grants cross-game subscriptions to nearly all of the publisher's active MMOs for $14.99 per month, went live on April 29.
SOE confirmed in early May that PlanetSide 2 will run at 1080p on PS4, and that it will be playable at E3 in June.
The game was originally scheduled to arrive on PS4 in early 2014.
