Destiny to be first PS4 game with automatic pre-loading

Only select titles will allow for early downloads

Destiny will be the first game on PS4 to support automatic pre-loading, Sony has revealed.

According to a PS4 support page, users with system software 1.70 and beyond can enable the automatic downloads. With this feature turned on, users who have pre-ordered certain games can expect them to "pre-load onto the PS4 shortly before the release date."

"Beginning with Destiny, certain pre-ordered titles can be automatically be pre-loaded prior to their release," the support page reads. "This lets you rest easy knowing that your game will be ready for play the second its release date hits."

Only titles which are specifically designated to support pre-load functionality will have this option. A Sony support agent told DualShockers that Ubisoft elected to not allow pre-loading for Watch Dogs.

Sony opened US digital pre-orders for Destiny on Tuesday, letting users lock in both early downloads and access to the PS3 and PS4 beta scheduled for July.

A trailer released on Monday gives a general overview of the game, including the emergent adventures players will encounter online.

Destiny will release for PS3, PS4, Xbox 360 and Xbox One on September 9.
